Module Details
INDICATIVE CONTENT
This module will focus on developing an understanding of movement analysis and the equipment used for analysing human gait.

The content of the module will allow the student to familiarise themselves with complex gait 3D motion analysis as well as investigate the place and use for simple video based 2D analysis.

The practical elements of this module will encompass (1) how equipment can be used to collect data (2) how to analyse the data (3) how to produce a report in such a way that it will be helpful for practitioners
ASSESSMENT DETAILS
1 x Lab diary and reflective log (40 %) (1000 words) Covering all learning outcomes
1 x written report on the application of Gait Analysis to a specific scenario (60%) (2000 words) Covering LO 3 and LO 4

Formative assessment and feedback will be provided during the tutorial sessions
LEARNING STRATEGIES
Scheduled Learning and Teaching Hours
36 hours of Lecture/practical-based teaching supported by the University VLE.
Lecture (1 hours per week), tutorial/practical laboratory work (2 hours per week)

Guided Independent Study Hours
Directed reading, information gathering, and learning (114 hours)

The learning within this module will be facilitated through lectures and seminars as well as tutorials and practical sessions in the lab.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
1. Demonstrate a systematic understanding of human movement and how it can be analysed (Knowledge & Understanding, Learning)

2. Demonstrate a critical awareness and evaluation of the current gait analysis equipment and to apply appropriate techniques to measure specific aspects of gait (Learning, Enquiry, Analysis, Application)

3. Evaluate complex requirements relating to data capture and analysis and demonstrate a critical understanding of various techniques available for kinematic and kinetic analysis of human movement. (Enquiry, Analysis, Problem Solving, Knowledge & Understanding)

4. Critically analyse the data collection procedures and to reflect upon execution of lab skills and the validity and reliability aspects with a view to communicate the conclusions clearly to a range of inter-professional audience. (Communication, Application, Reflection)
