ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Formative

Podcast Pitch & Demonstration (peer-assessed, no weighting)

Students prepare a short outline (250–300 words) of their proposed podcast theme, guest, and key reflective practice concepts they intend to explore.

They record a 5-minute trial extract (e.g. an opening discussion or practice interview question) and share it with peers in small groups.

Peers provide structured feedback using a tutor-provided checklist (clarity, depth of reflection, integration of theory, potential for engagement).

No grade is awarded, but feedback guides refinement before the final summative podcast.

Summative

Podcast Interview/Discussion (20 minutes, 100%)

Students will design, record, and produce a 20-minute podcast interview or discussion with a guest (such as a coach, mentor, or peer) exploring reflective practice in coaching. The podcast must demonstrate:

Critical engagement with advanced theories, models, and technologies of reflection.

Application of these concepts to authentic coaching contexts.

Evaluation of reflective practice approaches and their impact on coach education or organisational settings.

Evidence-based recommendations for enhancing reflective practice.

The podcast format should be professional, engaging, and academically rigorous, with students ensuring that arguments are clearly supported by relevant research and critical analysis throughout the recording.

WEB DESCRIPTOR
Discover how reflection can transform your coaching. This module takes you beyond the basics, exploring the latest ideas and tools that help coaches learn, adapt and grow. You’ll examine how reflection works in practice, from using video and digital media to learning with mentors and peers, and you’ll put theory into action by creating your own podcast on reflective coaching. Designed for flexible online study, the module allows you to explore new perspectives, challenge your own practice, and develop fresh ideas you can apply straight away in coaching and coach education.
LEARNING STRATEGIES
This module is delivered fully online through asynchronous distance learning. Students will engage with a structured programme of digital resources, including vodcasts, key readings, and interactive tasks provided through the virtual learning environment. Learning is supported by weekly activities designed to promote critical engagement with theory and its application to coaching contexts, with opportunities for peer interaction and feedback through discussion forums. Independent study is guided by formative activities, including a peer-assessed podcast pitch, which prepare students for the final summative assessment. Feedback will be provided in line with institutional policy, ensuring that students receive clear and constructive guidance on their progress.
