ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Two elements: Group poster presentation (50% of the overall mark) during Teaching Block 1 (LO1 & 2) and a reflective portfolio (50% of the overall mark) during Teaching Block 2 (LO1 & 3)

INDICATIVE CONTENT
This module aims to enable students to explore and appreciate a range of business contexts through case studies, visits to local organisations, networking with employers and alumni and their reflection on the enhancement of their employability in connection with their learning throughout the first year of their study. This module provides an opportunity for students to self-reflect on their experience as a student and gain a thorough understanding of their own developmental skills in regards to their own student learning, writing, team working, communication and research skills and other essential components to aid success in student and career development.

The module includes:-

• The foundations to learning i.e. commitment, student motivation, prioritising and time-management

• Student self-reflection of learning in regards to individual personalities, learning styles and challenges faced

• University study support resources and peer learning – using resources effectively and legally.

• Effective communication, networking and collaboration – social engagement

Using the actual self-reflection and experience of students as a guide the module content will be flexed to allow for the consolidation of knowledge, skills and experience being gained throughout their first year of study.

Learning Strategies
The learning strategy for this module is based around students committing a total of 300 hours of activities towards achieving the learning outcomes. These will be split between 78 hours of direct contact with a tutor and 222 hours of directed, guided and self-study, together with preparation for and completion of the assessment tasks. Learning support material will be provided for the module.
The module will draw upon a mixture of activities including lectures, web-based activities, case study analysis, relevant videos and in-class discussions, individual and group problem solving and self-directed learning.
