Module Details
ASSESSMENT DETAILS
A Portfolio (weighted at 25%) based upon a range of case study exercises, selected from the tutorial activities undertaken. Each of the Portfolio exercises will carry equal marks with approximately 820 words. (assessing all Learning Outcomes)

An Assignment (weighted at 75%) either be based on case study or a strategy based simulation, with a Portfolio element, (assessing all learning outcomes).
INDICATIVE CONTENT

Using strategic tools, models and concepts, analysis of the external environment and internal capabilities of the organisation, including:
• Evaluation of markets and competitive contexts
• Value Chain and resource analysis, including financial analysis
• Stakeholder and leadership assessment
• Cultural aspects - organisational, national and international

Generating and evaluating strategic options, including:
• Competitive, market based and resource based options
• International strategies & methods of strategic development
• Evaluation of strategic options

Implementing and controlling strategy, including:
• The management of change
• Management structures, information systems and controls





LEARNING STRATEGIES

The learning strategy for this module requires students to commit 150 learning hours (including assessment). This will include 24 hours of scheduled teaching and learning activities and 126 hours of independent and self-directed study.

The class sessions will include formal lectures, case study analysis and group discussions based on student experiences in the subject area. Students will be encouraged to integrate their work based experiences with new knowledge and skills developed in the classroom as the module progresses.
