MODULE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1. CARRY OUT EXTENSIVE RESOURCE GATHERING OF CONTEMPORARY CARTOON AND COMIC PRACTICE AND SHARE IT WITH OTHERS. DEMONSTRATE AN UNDERSTANDING OF UNCERTAINTY, AMBIGUITY ABOUT THE LIMITS OF KNOWLEDGE, RESEARCH, AND EVALUATE AND APPLY NEW KNOWLEDGE IN THE PURSUIT OF SELF INITIATED GOALS.
2. MAKE INFORMED DECISIONS IN RELATION TO YOUR FUTURE CAREER INTENTIONS.

6. DESCRIBE AND COMMENT UPON THE CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF PRACTICES AND PRODUCTS IN THE LIGHT OF CURRENT DEBATES AND THE FORMULATION OF A PERSONAL POSITION WITHIN THE CONTEMPORARY CONTEXTS OF CARTOON & COMIC ARTS.
7. DEVELOP APPROPRIATE QUESTIONS TO IDENTIFY AND ANTICIPATE PROBLEMS, TO EXPLORE ALTERNATIVE POSSIBILITIES AND TO APPLY THE MOST APPROPRIATE SOLUTION TO A RANGE OF CARTOON AND COMIC PROJECTS.
MODULE ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
100% Coursework testing all LOs. This will include an individual negotiated learning plan containing a minimum of three detailed project proposals which must take into account your ability to investigative, annotated, research the industry potential projects and proposals.
You should submit sketchbooks and layout pads which reflect a substantial body of visual exploration of a range of potential ideas, images and design development. Visuals demonstrating the most appropriate methods of communication.
MODULE INDICATIVE CONTENT
This module seeks to prepare you for entry into your chosen profession or postgraduate study and aims to develop your awareness of the range of careers and opportunities available. It aims to provide you with the opportunity to utilise all your practical, critical, and analytical skills in the realisation of self-initiated creative projects.
You will be expected to accept full responsibility for establishing and pursuing distinct personal goals within the Cartoon & Comic Arts industry. You will be able to make realistic, well-informed decisions in relation to your future career intentions, which will develop your ability to cope with the transition from undergraduate study to the next stage in your career.
You will submit and present work to a creative industry panel who will provide initial feedback on ideas and later Work in Progress.
Topics will include the jobs market and employment opportunities, interview techniques, responding to job advertisements, CV preparation, personal promotion, professional presentation of work and the development of contacts.
This module is structured to provide you with a basis for determining personal objectives with regard to the realisation of a distinctive body of work. These personal ambitions and aspirations are seen as essential to the creative process and progress of an individual.
This is an opportunity for you to explore your creative potential whilst demonstrating organisational skills in the selection and management of media, techniques and technologies appropriate to the projects.
A negotiated learning plan and action plan, devised in consultation with relevant academic staff, will ensure that the outcomes of the module meet the intellectual rigour, creativity and skill levels appropriate for the final stage of undergraduate study.

MODULE LEARNING STRATEGIES
Introductory briefing/lecture.
Visiting lecturers from industry, who will provide feedback to ideas and work in progress,
lecture, and seminar group work.
Individual and group tutorials will take place, you will present your work in progress and receive constructive criticism and feedback. This will be key to developing the constituents of your final portfolio of work (undertaken in Negotiated Project Two).
Independent study, you will be required to engage in selective research and information gathering. Developing self promotion strategies to promote yourself outside the confines of the university.
Demonstrate the production of creative solutions for your own self initiated projects.
You will practice professional presentations of your work.
Undergo interview practice and personal presentation skills.
Technical instruction/ surgeries as appropriate.
