Module Learning Strategies
The learning strategy for the module requires students to commit 150 learning hours (including assessment). Of this there will be 36 hours of class support and 114 hours of independent and self directed study. Guided independent learning and team working are an integral part of the module learning strategy. Lectures will provide students with a broad overview of frameworks needed to plan an event. Tutorial support activities and workshops (24 hours) will provide students with additional input, advice and practical participation on event planning where appropriate. A further 114 hours of independent study will require students to undertake preparatory work on their event plans in preparation for discussion in class.
Module Indicative Content
In this module the student will be given the opportunity to apply the concepts and theory developed throughout the programme to the planning of an event. This will include developing a strategic plan to include appropriate areas of event management for example scheduling, budgeting and cash flow, risk and impact assessment, staging. This will prepare students to run an event in the Event Management Project module and build a critical understanding of the factors relevant to planning an event.
Students should expect to develop a range of transferable skills such as leadership, teamwork, organisational skill, assertiveness, communication, presentation skill, problem solving.
