1,000 word essay based on a subject area covered in the module and by negotiation and discussion with personal tutor (1000 words) and a career action plan (500 words)
INDICATIVE CONTENT
This module provides an introduction and insight into studying in a range of Faculties at Staffordshire University
Students will experience a range of learning perspectives from a broad selection of academic disciplines. This will be achieved by focusing on a specific issue e.g. obesity, euthanasia, technology, global warming etc. which will be explored through a variety of teaching and learning approaches pertinent to a range of academic disciplines. Students will then take part in a workshop evaluation of what and how they have learned, which will enable them to make a more informed choice regarding the areas of study they would like to pursue in the future.
LEARNING STRATEGIES
Primarily an experiential workshop approach will be used. However, the specific learning strategies will differ within each of the faculty workshops, where the strategy most appropriate to the subject under consideration will be employed. In the independent learning part of the module, you will engage in reflective analysis via the learning diary as to how you would want to continue your study. Planning this part of module will involve you in one-to-one discussions with your tutor.
