Module Learning Strategies
Taught sessions: 12 hours

The nature of this module implies an emphasis on independent study and reflection as the main methods of learning. However, a series of short sessions early in the programme will provide structured opportunities for the introduction of important concepts and tools for self-development, including the following:
- Analysis of skills and abilities using a variety of models and tools eg Myers Briggs
- Study of the concept of the `expert learner'
- Study of the concepts of emotional and social intelligence
- Develop or extend a personal development plan prototype
- Research relevant professional development maps eg CIPD
- Benchmarking against accepted industry standards for own sector, leadership and management
- Identification of skill extension areas eg coaching or mentoring

For the majority of this module, however, students will be working independently, using learning logs and journals to reflect on their development during the programme.
