Module Learning Strategies
Students will carry out this work while in their place of work, supported by the industrial mentor to provide guidance on the needs of the organisation, and by academic staff in terms of aligning this to the University framework.

Contact with staff will be on either an individual or small group basis to provide support in developing the learning contract and in answering specific issues regarding study skills. There will be formal contact with the mentor on a monthly basis.

The module is supported by use of the Blackboard VLE, which will be used to provide communication between participants in the course; access to resources for study skills and information literacy and formative assessment exercises.

Module Indicative Content
In this module the student is expected to develop a learning contract that will inform the rest of their negotiated award. The contract will form the link between the individual's goals, the needs of the employing organisation and the University's academic and modular frameworks. The contract will identify all the other learning activities that the student expects to undertake to reach their final chosen award. The learning agreement, together with diagnostic questionnaires, will be used to identify areas where APL is appropriate.

In addition, study skills will be developed within this module in the area of :
- Information literacy including use of online library facilities
- Report writing including referencing skills
- Giving presentations
- Use of IT to support learning
