Module Learning Strategies

The lecture will support the one lab session of two hours each week. The lab sessions will support the underlying knowledge and skills required to complete the module, and will be facilitated with booklets, course texts, and the internet. Group discussions will also take place in these sessions. The lecture will some weeks take place in a lab with projector facilities so that the students can interactively engage with the practical content.
Module Indicative Content
This module will address:
Introduction to client server languages using PHP
Testing and test plans for web sites
Testing Processes
An overview of the design of web databases and structures, typically used to support web sites such as ebay.co.uk, amazon.co.uk and yahoo.co.uk
An overview of the middleware used to connect to a web database, e.g. ADO / ODBC

A portfolio showing various examples of web database programming
A report to support the examples and underlining principles of web database interaction of 1500 words.
