Module Indicative Content
This module will provide an opportunity for students to explore the theory that supports the practice of Community Nursing in the Home - District Nursing.
Students will be able to critically reflect on innovative practice and its influence of new ways of working. The module will facilitate the awareness of local, national and international health policy, in relation to the changing role of the District Nurse.
The integration of theory and practice within this module will enable the student to understand the principles of caseload management, patient assessment and nurse prescribing, including pharmacology. Students will also analyse the impact of related law and accountability, in relation to their role. First assessment, the management of long term conditions of the individual and family, will be a key focus.
Students who provide evidence of satisfactory achievement of V300 or V150 will be credited with 18% of the module marks.
