Module Details
Module Special Admissions Requirements
Qualified Healthcare Practitioner, and engaged in telephone consultations / triage with Out of Hours Service, or Primary Care.
Module Additional Assessment Details
Viva Voce - a 25 minute viva based on a clinical scenario testing learning outcomes 1, 2 and 3. This will be based on an unseen scenario that will mimic a typical presenting symptom that would occur in primary care and out of hours service

Clinical Proficiency document that will test learning outcome 1 and 2. (Pass/fail).

The Clinical proficiency document will demonstrate competency at the level of Intemalisation (Steinaker and Bell Experiential Taxonomy) in all relevant areas. This will require a signature against all clinical learning hours (15 hours supervised clinical practice)

Both elements of assessment must be passed.

Formative: Reflective analysis of critical incidents with feedback facilitated through group discussions, mentor feedback and tutorials.

Principles of telephone triage in `Out of Hours' services and Primary Care dealing with patients over the telephone; communication skills including history taking; consultation skills; clinical decision making processes and prioritising; Symptom recognition and management of common presenting problems; professional accountability including legal and ethical issues; managing vulnerable clients
