Module Additional Assessment Details
An Audit Report 2,500 words weighted at 50% to be submitted at the end of term one
A Bid Proposal 2,500 words weighted at 50% to be submitted at the end of term two
Formative feedback: tutorials, student presentations
Audit report will assess outcomes 1,2,3 and 5
Bid/proposal will assess outcomes 4
Both elements of the assessment must be passed in order to successfully pass the module.
Module Indicative Content
This module will focus on practice development through:
Self-awareness: action planning: team building: organisation and management skills: role development
Leadership attributes: qualities and aptitude:
Operational, strategic and visionary leadership.
Service delivery:
Clinical governance, to include quality assurance strategies, local and national standard setting, implementation and measurement.
Accountability and delegation
Empowerment and negotiation, net working, collaboration and partnership
Leading and developing teams, team working.
Resource management and budgeting.
Setting direction:
Practice development, political awareness and the impact of local and national directives
Decision-making and problem solving;
Leading, managing and implementing change.
Conflict resolution, risk identification and management

Module Learning Strategies
Learning in this module will take place using a variety of approaches, including structured taught days,
directed and independent study, experiential learning, action planning and shadowing. A combination of methods will enable the student to achieve the module learning outcomes, this will be demonstrated through:
Structured study comprising of lead and keynote lectures, self-awareness exercise, action learning sets, seminars, student presentations, workshops and tutorial sessions 24%
Directed and independent study combining student/ lecturer negotiated experiences in the practice area, including observations of care, patient stories and shadowing 76%
