Module Details
Module Indicative Content
This module will further develop the skills developed in the neonatal foundation module 1 so that students gain the appropriate knowledge, skills and evidence base required to enable them to independently manage the care of a highly dependent neonate. This will include: nutrition and fluid balance, respiratory and airway management, neurological and neonatal abstinence, skin assessment and care, managing blood glucose, hygiene infection and infection control, parents and families, admission, transfer and discharge, teaching and learning methods neonatal resuscitation/life support.
Module Special Admissions Requirements
Applicants should a Registered Nurse, RSCN or Midwife. Candidates must have completed Foundation 1 or be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skill of neonatal special care working

Formative feedback:-
All students will have tutorial support and the opportunity to undertake mock MCQ papers and receive formative feedback following this. In addition, all candidates will have a clinical mentor who will meet regularly with the student to discuss progress
