This module will facilitate an in-depth exploration of your leadership style and qualities through a process of guided learning. Core content will focus on strategies to examine, critically reflect and analyse self and team management and will broaden leadership role and horizons.
The focus of the module is on critical reflection and appraisal of self-awareness; skills of leadership and self-management in personal and professional practice; A key element of the leader's role is the ability to build, develop and manage effective relationships with teams and colleagues. This will be achieved by reflecting on the principals that underpin effective team building and team dynamics and applying to practice scenarios through Action Learning.
Negotiation and assertiveness strategies will be used to develop skills essential for leading and managing self and others and dealing with conflict and resolution.
Leadership tools will be used to identify, analyse and evaluate personal strengths and limitations and used as a basis of Personal Development Planning
Key to developing contemporary leadership practice is the ability to critique the impact of policies, philosophies and political agendas and these will be introduced throughout the module.

A series of taught, self directed and workshops will be organised. A variety of methods and approaches will be used; however the team are mindful that at this level negotiation and facilitation is important.

Contact hours, including sessions delivered by the Primary Care trust will encompass

12 hours seminars, presentations and action learning

Independent Study Hours: (102) will include;
group and individual tutorial time, mentoring and shadowing ,preparation of personal development plans and assessed work.

A mentor, working in an advanced leadership role (e.g. Nursing Director, Professional Development Officer. Professional Executive, Committee Board member) who is willing to take part in discussions and coaching with the student, offer guidance/direction on leadership issues and facilitate action planning and goal setting. They will form an integral part of the students' development in their leadership role.

The submitted ASSIGNMENT will be assessed against the inclusion of substantive evidence demonstrating achievement of module outcomes.

Formative assessment will include group and individual tutorials
