Module Details
Module Indicative Content
This module intends to equip students with a range of critical appraisal skills by which they can explore a range of therapeutic interventions applicable to patients within a primary care setting, with emotional and mental health wellbeing problems/issues.

The indicative content will include:

Consultation Models/Approaches
Theory and practice of motivational interviewing.
Theories & principles underpinning psychological interventions.
Theories & principles underpinning therapeutic interventions.
Cognitive behavioural therapy.
Problem based and solution focused therapies.
Human givens.
The role of the Practitioner with a special interest in mental health.
Evaluating therapeutic outcomes.

Module Additional Assessment Details
This reflective essay will be a critically reflective piece of writing focusing on a therapeutic consultation(s) between a client and practitioner, within a Health and Social Care setting.

Achieving learning outcomes 1,2 and 3

Formative Assessment:
Formative assessment will involve group discussion, seminar involvement and the use of tutorials to clarify, explore and critically discuss the focus of the reflective issue used for the assignment.
