Module Additional Assessment Details
Coursework is made up of aggregated components using negotiated briefs and content to cover learning outcomes 114; a final assessment grade will take an holistic view of the student's achievements across all components.

You will be asked to produce a folder or log of rough work for print and screen which develops typographic ideas for print and screen based on a single mood and message [Learning Outcome 1-4]

Your log-files or folder (digital and printed) will contain
- Digital captures of examples (your own and any influences) - annotated for methods of construction and for methods of digital re-interpretation
- Captures of work in progress - with technical construction notes and analysis/reflection for the next iteration of the idea
- Captures of media-transfer, using the same theme and content across two or more media

You will also produce examples of cross-media application of those ideas and layouts / sequences which demonstrate a good understanding of the strengths and constraints of echo media [Learning Outcome 1-4]

You will make a formal presentation which demonstrates and justifies your completed project work [Learning Outcome 1-4]
Module Indicative Content
Type and typographic layout must establish and use structures that work as sequences in order to carry simple or complex messages. This module aims to look at how those stuctures are established and created in two or more media, using appropriate software. You are expected to analyse and seek to exploit the strengths of text in each different media.

The final work will demonstrate practical understanding of typographic design used in conjunction with digital illustration/video techniques for on-screen and print design, and your technical control of the medium and its elements.

You will work on a log/folder of development work, annotating your progress in:
De-constructing and analysing current examples of onscreen typography and cross media transfer
Consistant structural graphics (for message and mood)
Good knowledge and skills in graphics and display typography using standard software (eg Illustrator/Flash/Dreamweaver/Quark Xpress)

Module Learning Strategies
The module is based on a set of tutorials and seminars discussing and producing
1) examples of onscreen and print-based typographic sequences which convey mood and concepts, and maintain that mood over a sequence of text, screens or pages
2) Attending and participating in workshops and seminars covering, current examples of onscreen and print-based typographic sequences.
3) Undertaking theoretical study of interactive narrative in self managed research type in motion and cross-platform layout
4) Developing skills in appropriate software through directed learning and practice,
5) practice based modulettes on printing.

Module Resources
Access to bookable studio space and lecture/seminar room with blackout and digital presentation hardware. Access to digital storage. Computer workshop facilities and appropriate hardware and software. Slide Library. Specialist skills 'modulettes' will be assigned to this module.
