Module Indicative Content
This module will concentrate on developing clinical skills and applying theory to practice to enable you to acquire skills to become professionally competent and confident in giving advice and effective care on matters concerning fertility control, sexuality, health promotion and principles of health screening within a multi cultural society. Your clinical assessment document will be used throughout the module to identify and plan individual learning needs and to record learning. Evidence based practice will be promoted throughout the module.
In order to facilitate the application of theory to practice and the development of clinical skills the content will include:
Preparation for clinical practice including record keeping, issues relating to unwanted pregnancy, working with young people, sexually transmitted infections, psychosexual issues, menopause, premenstrual syndrome, principles of health screening relevant to contraception and sexual health services. Thirty six hours of supervised and assessed clinical practice.
