Module Indicative Content
The aim of the module is to lay the foundation for practice by exploring a variety of pertinent issues in contraception and sexual health with reference to current literature/research. You will share this learning with professionals from various backgrounds which will add breadth and depth to discussion within the group. Throughout the module the content will be considered from a variety of perspectives covering; gender, age, culture, religion and sexuality.
In order to develop your knowledge and understanding of this field of health care within a multi-cultural society the following topics will be explored:- Applied anatomy and physiology relevant to fertility, fertility control, sexual function, contraceptive methods, sexual health promotion including safer sex issues, legal and professional issues that include; confidentiality, accountability, informed choice and consent, child protection within contraception and sexual health services, working to patient group directions, sexuality, current service provision and future developments within the United Kingdom.
