Module Indicative Content
This module will cover:
- The use of aromatherapy in treating a variety of health conditions
- Advanced massage techniques
- A working knowledge of an additional 15 essential oils
- Production processes
- The anatomy and physiology of the olfactory and endocrine systems
- Clinical application of aromatherapy
- A critical understanding of the chemical composition of 40 oils
Module Additional Assessment Details
Formative Assessment: Observation of practical application
Summative Assessment:
Application of 3 advanced massage techniques against performance criteria with personal reflection (30% weighting) (Learning Outcome 5)
Research project 2500 words (50% weighting) (Learning Outcome 6)
Exam - 1 hour in length (20% weighting)( Learning Outcomes 1, 2, 3, 4)
Module Learning Strategies
Learning will initially be lecture-room based, making use of web sites, specific work books and CD Roms
College clinic and placements to complete clinical practice (20%)
The module will integrate theory and its application in practice. This will be achieved by the application of three treatments using advanced techniques.
Independent study to complete assignments (80%)
