Formative Assessment: Observation of practical application

Summative Assessment:
Application of 3 hand reflexology treatments against performance criteria with personal reflection (30% weighting) (Learning Outcome 3)
Research project to cover ?The theories and effectiveness of advanced reflexology treatments? (50% weighting) (Learning Outcome 2)
Exam ? 1 hour in length (20% weighting) (Learning Outcomes 1,2)
Module Indicative Content
This module will cover the following areas:
- Demonstration of a series of complete hand reflexology treatments
- Study and understanding of hand charts and zones
- The anatomical structure of the hand
- Investigate current research into advanced reflexology techniques
- The application of code of Ethics and Practice
- Skills and attitudes in a clinical setting
- The treatment of common complaints with reflexology in the maintenance of health
Module Learning Strategies
Emphasis will be placed on the work-based learning with lectures and tutorials aimed at supporting and directing work-based approaches. (20%)Independent study will be engaged in identifying the relevant literature to support knowledge and understanding of current theories of advanced reflexology (80%)

The module will integrate theory and its application in practice. This will be achieved by the application of hand reflexology treatments.
