You will receive a mixture of lectures (2 hours per week), tutorials (1 hour per week) and case studies to demonstrate the above.

Module Indicative Content
Transducers and interfacing to a PC.
A PC programming language to read sensor data and act upon it.
Effects of interfacing, sampling rate and quantisation.
Basic control of a servo system, highlighting effects of altering gain: speed of response and overshoot.
Methods of modelling and simulating real systems
PLC systems and ladder diagrams.

In course assessment (50%), 1 assignment - Practical experiment and report which will assess Learning Outcomes 1,2 and 3.
Examination (50%) which will assess Learning Outcome 1 and 3.
