Module Indicative Content
1: Mixing techniques: incorporation, distribution, and dispersion.
2: Two roll mill, internal mixer, twin screw extruders.
3: Extrusion: screw design, drag, pressure and leakage flow, screw and die characteristics
4: Die design for tube, profile, wire covering
5: Injection moulding: machine specifications, moulding parameters. Compression moulding
6: Basic mould design; ejection, runner and gate design. Runnerless moulds.
7: Blow moulding and thermoforming techniques
8: Calendering: calendar type, sheet, friction fabric, topping methods

A course work weighted at 50%. A Class test weighted at 50%.

An assignment (25%) 1000 words which will assess learning outcomes 1 and 2.
An assignment (25%) 1000 words which will assess learning outcomes 3 and 4.

1, 2 hours end exam (50%) which will assess learning outcomes 1, 2, 3 and 4.
