Module Indicative Content
The module gives the students the opportunity to develop their Applied Mechanics technology skills, knowledge and concepts studying.
Biaxial stress fields, thin cylinder stress analysis, failure criteria, buckling instability, Bending movement and deflection theory.
Forced damped vibration analysis of single degree of freedom systems, kinematics and kinetics
Balancing of rotating masses.
Module Learning Strategies
12 x 2 hour lectures and seminars to support student learning.
Directed student-centred learning.
4 x 3 hour laboratory work to further specific aspects of contents.
This module may be delivered full-time on a block delivery basis by West Cheshire College.

Examination - Unseen in exam conditions length 2 hours (50%) which will assess Learning Outcome 1.
Practical work and reports (50%) which will assess Learning Outcome 2.
