Module Indicative Content
1: Mixing techniques: incorporation, distribution, and dispersion.
2: Two roll mill, internal mixer, twin screw extruders.
3: Extrusion: screw design, drag, pressure and leakage flow, screw and die characteristics
4: Die design for tube, profile, wire covering
5: Injection moulding: machine specifications, moulding parameters. Compression moulding
6: Basic mould design; ejection, runner and gate design. Runnerless moulds.
7: Blow moulding and thermoforming techniques
8: Calendering: calendar type, sheet, friction fabric, topping methods

CE00597-1 Polymer Materials or equivalent.

Examples of male and female thermoforming. Extruded products, film, sheet, profile, pipe, wire covering.
Examples of moulded products to indicate gate positioning, weld lines and runnerless moulds, calendered products, hand built and moulded products.
