Module Special Admissions Requirements
Level 2 of Engineering award or equivalent.
Module Resources
As specified at the completion of CE00627-3 The Professional Engineer, following negotiation and approval by supervisor.
Module Learning Strategies
Contact Hours - a minimum of 20 minutes contact per student per week.
1: 1 and small group tutorials with supervisor
Student centred learning to include laboratory work, research and report writing
Module Indicative Content
The project will be investigative, requiring the student to investigate the existing background, theories and knowledge as applied to a problem in the design of an existing or new process or product. By sound theoretical judgment, synthesis, and above all, creativity, the student will arrive at a solution based on sound engineering principles. The project will be integrative, deploying and extending the range of skills and knowledge previously and concurrently developed on the student's chosen award.
The design will be validated by simulation, partial or complete realisation and prototype.

100% in course assessment, consistent with Faculty Level 3 project guidelines (Please see Project Handbook)
Written Report typically 2000 words and Design Graphics / Models (Learning Outcome 1,2,3)
Oral presentations 10 minutes (Learning Outcome 4)
