Module Indicative Content
An introduction into the use and application of web based communication and media for events management.
The use and application of proprietary and open source software for conference and events management, covering subject matter such as:
Web based registration and payment systems.
Understanding internet security and trust issues
The protection of personal data, both on and off line
Utilising desk based and mobile applications
Understanding and managing the on/off-line customer experience
Setting and monitoring budgets, tracking income and expenses, process payments and production of analytical reports.
An introduction into data-mining and the use of client information databases for e-marketing other marketing activities.
Module Additional Assessment Details
The assessment will take the form of:
a weekly student learning experience blog 10% (LO 2) (500 words)
A bi-weekly online assessment comprising a mixture of mini written and multi-choice assessments 30% (LO 1 & 2 )
An event management exam using events management software 60% (LO 1 & 2) (3 hr)

A further 114 hours of independent study will require students to further develop and practice these skills in using proprietary and open source software to demonstrate and apply learning inputs and outcomes. Included in this time there will also be a combination of formative and summative assessment excises and the development of a student group discussion forum and personal blog
