Lectures and Laboratory sessions

Learning on all aspects of the module will be facilitated by lectures and tutorials, problem solving exercises and student centred learning.
Practical assignments using laboratory equipment and editing facilities will support the learning.
Module Additional Assessment Details
Individual logbook assessing learning outcomes 1 and 2 (maximum word count 1,500).
Short edit weighted at 50% which will assess learning outcomes 2 and 3
A 10 minute group discussion weighted at 10% which will assess learning outcome 4
Module Indicative Content
Students will gain knowledge of
1. The editing processes and styles used for TV editing
2. Different TV programme genres
3. Editing for promotions, interviews, highlights, inserts, sporting events and documentary.
4. Tapeless editing environments
5. File formats ¿ quicktime, aaf, wav, mxf, HD and SD resolutions
6. Timecode and terminology
7. Single and multiple source editing
8. Rostrum camera inserts
9. Prepping shows for content and length
10. Final cut pro and Avid
