The student will need a basic ability to create and manipulate 3D CAD models.

100% In course assessment which will assess all Learning Outcomes.
The student will be expected to develop a marketing campaign for a product of their choice. The campaign will use mixed computer generated media including still, animated and enhanced images.
Module Indicative Content
Basic Rendering techniques : Rendering, Ray tracing, Radiosity.
Data transfer : Strategies for exchanging 3D data between CAD systems. Using layers to organise data for transfer.
Material Properties : Defining material properties including colour, reflectivity, transparency. Application of surface decals and bump maps to enhance realism. Using shaders.
Lightning Techniques : Defining and positioning various types of computer simulated light sources including Ambient, Diffuse, Spot lights etc. Effects of light sources on shadows.
Camera : Positioning and defining basic camera properties. Simple camera Animation.
Layout : Using graphics packages to layout posters combining graphics and text.
