Module Additional Assessment Details
100% in-course assessment of a music composition of not less than 8 minutes and not more than 10 minutes duration. This will take the form of;
1. Presentation of composition - weighting 25%
Assessing Learning Outcomes; 1 and 2.
2. Effectiveness and originality of composition together with support documentation - weighting 75%
Assessing Learning Outcome; 1.
Module Indicative Content
The module will cover;
Introduction to advanced rhythmic, harmonic and melodic construction.
Exploration into the use of irregular time signatures and syncopation.
Introduction to jazz, modern and atonal styles.
Analysis of existing orchestration in order to create effective sound atmospheres.
Analysis of existing compositional structures to facilitate more coherent musical development.
Development of skills in the use of certain software packages in order to demonstrate your musical knowledge, originality and creativity.
