Module Learning Strategies
The learning strategy for this module will require the student to commit to 150 hours of learning (including assessment, 6 hours of workshops and a minimum of 18 hours Active Learning Sets). The main emphasis is on the application of the learning in the workplace and the return on investment to the organisation resulting from the learning, supported by academic study including formal articles, underpinned case study analysis and reflection on student experiences in the workplace.
The subject of Managing Finance demands direct application of both basic and advanced principles in a realistic scenario and therefore specific emphasis is placed on using Action Learning as a methodology: a key component of the learning strategy will be through Action Learning Sets where small project teams (of 3-4 people) will meet for a minimum total of 18 hours to develop a proposal for cost saving in a selected area of the organisation's business. This will provide formative assessment through peer review as the ALS progresses, and will also be the vehicle for one component of the assessment for this module.
