Module Learning Strategies
The learning strategy for this module requires students to commit 150 learning hours (including assessment). Of this, there will be 24 hours of class support and 126 hours of independent and self directed study. Students will be encouraged to integrate their work based experiences with new knowledge and skills as the module progresses. Learning support material will be provided for the module.

A work based assignment, exploring the leadership in the students own organisation (1750 words) (80%) (Learning Outcomes 1 - 3)
A Reflective Journal, relating learning and the development of skills (20%) (Learning Outcome 2)
Module Indicative Content
This module sets out to explore the range of current thinking about leadership and how it is applied at different levels in an organisation. Students will develop practical skills and understanding appropriate to their current positions but will also be equipped with relevant knowledge to assist their career development in the field of leadership. The broad structure will cover:
- Leadership of teams
- Leadership issues for middle managers
- Leading at a more senior level
Within this framework attention will be paid to:
- Growing effective teams
- A leader's responsibility for development of others
- The interpersonal skills of leadership
- The leader as motivator
- Leading change
- Leadership theories and styles.
