Module Learning Strategies
There will be three hours of class contact per week, with lecture, discussion and workshop activities (24 hours of formal lectures/large group activities, 12 hours of tutorials). Students will be expected to interpret and discuss articles from the national and international press, both in class and as part of their independent learning. As part of their independent learning students will manage a portfolio of shares and track and analyse this.
Module Indicative Content
This module is designed to give students an understanding of the forces operating in the major financial markets and an ability to interpret financial information as presented in the financial press. This will involve the study of equity and capital markets and their links with the economy. Students will be given an introduction to the main market indices and their derivation.
