There are titles in each of the collections that will support students studying this module. Staffordshire University has subscriptions to IEEExplore, ACM Digital Library, Elsevier Science Direct and Infotrac Computer Database all offering full text electronic access to journals and conference proceedings

Module Learning Strategies
24 hours classroom teaching including presentations and seminar sessions which will include individual and group activities, discussions and case study analysis.
The classroom teaching will include a broad overview of the indicative content.
Independent study will involve directed reading in order to gain and extend knowledge in areas of the indicative content not covered in depth by the classroom teaching. Work based learning will include the investigation of how aspects of the taught material apply to the students' own workplace and the application of newly gained knowledge in the workplace.
Students will be encouraged to discuss relevant aspects within discussion forums that are part of the VLE. The forums will allow discussion with a student's peer group as well as the module tutor.
Students will have the support of a mentor at their place of work.
Module Indicative Content
This module develops themes relevant to both large and small organisational structures but with particular relevance to production and service environments. The areas covered will include a selection of the following or similar topics;
The overall operations business environment and its relationship to the transformational process, the difference between product/service and project based companies, supply chain, inventory and capacity issues.
The management of quality in the organisation - satisfying customer requirements
The management of people - identifying theories of management and motivation and their implication for job design.
The role of strategic and business planning and the marketing function together with an understanding of financial essentials - budgeting, cash flows and financial accounts
