Module Additional Assessment Details
A 1500 word individual Portfolio (assesses all Learning Outcomes) weighted at 50%, with one element (or set) submitted early in the semester and the second element (or set) submitted at the end of the semester, AND
A 1500 word individual Assignment (assesses all Learning Outcomes) weighted at 50%

OR

An individual Portfolio (assesses all Learning Outcomes) weighted at 50% AND, with one element (or set) submitted early in the semester and the second element (or set) submitted at the end of the semester.

A Group Report Assignment (assesses all Learning Outcomes) based on a computer simulation or a consultancy project report weighted at 50%.

The individual learning portfolio element is based upon a range of case study exercises, selected from the tutorial activities undertaken. Each of the portfolio exercises will carry equal marks with approximately 1500 words in total for all portfolios.
Module Indicative Content
Using strategic tools, models and concepts, analysis of the external environment and internal capabilities of the organisation, including:
- Evaluation of markets and competitive contexts
- Value Chain and resource analysis, including financial analysis
- Stakeholder and leadership assessment
- Cultural aspects - organisational, national and international

Generating and evaluating strategic options, including:
- Competitive, market based and resource based options
- International strategies & methods of strategic development
- Evaluation of strategic options

Implementing and controlling strategy, including:
- The management of change
- Management structures, information systems and controls

Module Learning Strategies
The learning strategy for the module requires students to commit 150 learning hours (including assessment) of this there will be 30 hours of class support and 120 hours of independent and self directed study. Support will also be given by access to Scheduled Tutor Office Hours to support the module.

The lecture/tutorial pattern may vary with some activities taking place in medium size group workshops.
