Module Indicative Content
Using strategic tools, models and concepts, analysis of the external environment and internal capabilities of the organisation, including:
- Evaluation of markets and competitive contexts
- Value Chain and resource analysis, including financial analysis
- Stakeholder and leadership assessment
- Cultural aspects - organisational, national and international

Generating and evaluating strategic options, including:
- Competitive, market based and resource based options
- International strategies & methods of strategic development
- Evaluation of strategic options

Implementing and controlling strategy, including:
- The management of change
- Management structures, information systems and controls

Module Additional Assessment Details
An individual learning portfolio based on 5 case study exercises selected from the tutorials activities undertaken. Each of the five exercises (worth up to 10% of total marks) being of no more than typically 300 words (1500 words in total for all 5 portfolios), total weighting 50% (tests all learning outcomes)

AND

An individual assignment length 1500 words weighted at 50% (tests all learning outcomes)

OR

A 15 page group report based upon a computer simulated strategic context weighted at 50% (tests all learning outcomes)
Module Learning Strategies
The learning strategy for the module requires students to commit 150 learning hours (including assessment) of this there will be 30 hours of class support and 120 hours of independent and self directed study. Support will also be given by access to Scheduled Tutor Office Hours to support the module.

The lecture/tutorial pattern may vary with some activities taking place in medium size group workshops.
