Participation in seminars, management of your own time, planning, organisation, research skills, presentational skills, collection and analysis of information acquired on visits.
Module Indicative Content
This module continues the development of your study skills throughout the semester to prepare you for the requirements of Level 1, in particular the management of time, project planning and organisation, improving your quality of presentation in written work and oral delivery. You will participate in seminars to discuss issues which are relevant to contemporary practice in all areas of art and design, and will observe and document examples of historical and contemporary practice. Part of this will take place during a visit to a centre, if possible, of international significance, either in this country or abroad.
You will be expected to research and present a personal study as part of this module.

1. Preparation and presentation of a seminar with one or more fellow students (A, B, C).
2. A personal study which presents written and visual information on an issue or issues related to contemporary practice in art and design (A, B, C).
To achieve a pass you will have contributed to the presentation of a seminar (Communication, Research); managed your time reasonably well; planned and completed a personal study (Learning); and be aware of more than one of the issues relevant to contemporary practice (Research).
To achieve the highest grade you will have contributed significantly to discussion and presented a seminar exceptionally well (Communication, Research); managed your time with efficiency and initiative (Learning); produced a personal study of the highest standard; and demonstrated a keen awareness of several issues of relevance to contemporary practice (Research).
