Module Learning Strategies
You will have five hours of class time per week.
This time will be spent developing the skills you will need to succeed on your course. Teaching methods will include working in groups and individually. Your tutor will present regular instruction and help you negotiate the activities in the set course text. Activities will include group discussion, role play and pair-work..
The Module Tutor will provide a carefully devised programme of tasks to help you improve your skills in business English contexts, provide practice in the modes forming the assessment and give you the opportunity to engage in formative assessment with frequent and prompt feedback.

Module Indicative Content
This model seeks to prepare you to be able to write effective general business English communication and to understand the language needed to take part in various business oral situations.
Written areas of correspondence include memos, leaflets, notices, reports, articles, lists and basic letters. These are broadly based on the syllabus of the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Level One English for Business examination. Oral areas include social English, telephone English, preparing for a job interview, the language of negotiation, the language of meetings, and presenting facts and figures.
You will also develop the reflective independent learning skills and responsibility for learning that will be assessed as part of your Portfolio.
Other areas of reflection mentioned in the programme's learning outcomes at this level and areas of application, such as, the willingness to communicate independently outside the classroom, will be linked to your personal tutorial as part of your Personal Development Programme.
