This module will be assessed by:

Summative assessment:
A case study (900 words) of a work-based or study-based team, demonstrating impartial application of principles of team development to analyse the effectiveness of the team (learning outcomes 1 and 2). The case study should include evidence such as annotated minutes and agendas.

A reflective account (900 words) of own contribution to team work, with linkage to relevant literature, followed by a set of goals to enhance own capacity to contribute to teams (learning outcome 3).

Module Learning Strategies
You will attend 9 X 2 hour weekly sessions, followed by an assignment workshop.

A variety of learning and teaching methods will be used such as presentations by specialist practitioners, group discussions, case studies, role plays and task centered investigations. You will engage in collaborative team activities.

In addition you will be required to engage in independent study in order to consolidate and build upon your learning from the taught sessions. This will take the form of undertaking follow-up tasks, work based investigations, and reading relevant literature.

Module Indicative Content
During this module, you will explore the principles of team development from a practical and theoretical perspective. You will be introduced the stages of team development and consider how behaviour, roles and leadership change as the team evolves. You will review the roles an individual can play within a team and explore the characteristics of effective teams. An opportunity to investigate strategies for managing and working within problem teams will be provided.
