Module Indicative Content
The module will discuss how to tackle design exploration in fashion design by reviewing theoretical and practical solutions. It will be necessary to develop a sound knowledge of researching and sourcing ideas for fashion design development. This will by necessity require both an historical as well a contemporary perspective and understand how a textile designer operates.
This will result in a wide ranging exploration of sources of inspiration and the cultural or societal overtones at any given point in time. Students will be encouraged to visit galleries, museums and exhibitions in order to bring their personal views into classroom debate and discussion.
In responding to the discoveries from your design exploration students will gain a deeper understanding of the design application process in relation to graphic design, interactive media and illustration. This will provide students with a greater insight into professional practice and trend analysis that can result in opportunities in different and emerging markets.
