Module Additional Assessment Details
This module will be assessed by:

1. A concept map (50%), illustrating the key future global, social and political influences on UK education and applications to own working environment, underpinned by references to relevant literature (learning outcomes 1 and 2).

2. A 900 word account (50%), analysing the extent to which own institution / sector is "future proof" and making recommendations which will lead to organisational sustainability and continuous improvement in the context investigated (learning outcome 3).
Module Learning Strategies
You will attend 9 weekly sessions, followed by an assignment workshop.

A variety of learning and teaching methods will be used such as presentations by specialist practitioners, group discussions, case studies, role plays and task centered investigations.

In addition you will be required to engage in independent study in order to consolidate and build upon your learning from the taught sessions. This will take the form of undertaking follow-up tasks, work based investigations, and reading relevant literature.

Module Indicative Content
This module will offer an opportunity to explore the influences which will shape the educational environment of the future. It will focus on three main strands:
Political influences - the impact of local and national politics on the future evolution of the education sector, including development and implementation of legislation.
Social influences - evolving attitudes such as customer focus, increasing cultural diversity, and demographic trends.
Global influences - impact of internationalisation, sustainable development, technology in education and the changing labour market.
