A Portfolio weighted at 100%, covering:

Self Development: A Personal Profile Summary outlining your career-related skills, abilities, values and motivations, including evidence (Learning Outcome 1)

Career Exploration: Consideration of the options available, in-depth research into one option and a detailed and reflective comparison of how your career choice matches with personal criteria.
(Learning Outcome 2)

Career Management: To include examples of written applications, a reflection on learning from mock interview and a plan of action to implement career plans
(Learning Outcome 3)

Formative assessment:
To complete the Portfolio, students will receive support in various ways. All written work for the Portfolio can be checked through the Careers Service. During class contact time, students will have the opportunity to discuss their work with peers and tutor. Students will carry out a practice interview and presentation with peers and gain feedback.

Module Indicative Content
This module will give you the opportunity to think about yourselves, identify and explore your career options, and to identify how to pursue those options. You will engage activities reflecting on your skills, values and personality. This will form the basis for your career choices, and also for making effective applications. You will explore and research possible career options, by using various sources including talking to someone who does the job under consideration ? and then you will consider how this job matches up to what you want from work. You will develop your application skills by producing written applications and considering how to plan and prepare for a selection interview. You will identify goals and strategies for further development and write a plan of action, explaining how you will make your career plans happen.
Module Learning Strategies
The learning strategy of this module requires you to commit to 150 learning hours.

12 hours of contact time. This will include:

- 6 x 2 hour teaching sessions/workshops on core topics (to include a `mock interview? with feedback (1 hour)

138 hours of independent study time. This will include:
- Using Blackboard VLE to develop and support underpinning knowledge and to access materials required for portfolio evidence
- Accessing Staffordshire University Careers and Employability Service website to use materials and obtain advice and guidance from careers advisers
- Using computer aided guidance programmes, e.g. Prospect Planner, available on the internet
- Making contact with a job holder and interviewing them
- Individual study to research graduate opportunities and prepare for job applications and interviews
