Module Additional Assessment Details
Produce a research file for your idea (25%)
Produce a script development file (25%)
Present the same film outline written in two distinctive styles of genre (50%)

To pass this module student must obtain 40% marks. Re-assessment is capped at 40%
Module Indicative Content
Understanding Genre. Movements and School of thought in relation to creating a film allow production values to be signposted to the audience as well as the actors or their characterisation on screen.
Therefore, students will gain an appreciation of crafting narrative / non-narrative, explore the historical, aesthetic and political movements contributing to production. Students will again be able to practice the impact of different genre through identifying the principles and practice associated with genre and in mashing-up genres to gain an insight into how the final version of a film can be influenced by applying the different editorial frameworks of particular a genre.
Module Learning Strategies
The learning strategy for the module requires students to commit 300 learning hours, of this there will be 75 hours of class support and 225 hours of independent and self directed study.

Apart from the lecture each week, various other methods as mentioned above will be used as learning strategies.
There will be laboratory and tutorial sessions, students will be required to discuss and present various topics of the module in the class. Students will be required to apply theoretical knowledge in practical contexts.
Students are expected to be able to structure their own work and to work relatively independently under the guidance of the module teaching staff.
