Module Learning Strategies
There will be 36 hours of contact support for this module:
12 hours of formal lectures
12 hours of tutorials and/or practical workshops based upon the evaluation of a typical project.
12 hours of computer labs covering the use of MS Project and applications in MS Excel.

114 hours of independent and self-directed study using Blackboard based study materials. In your independent study time, you will be expected to prepare the data to be used in the next tutorial / workshop.
Module Indicative Content
The necessity to effectively manage within the business environment the development of new products and services is seen as an organisations life-blood. This module concentrates on the process, management techniques and tools that are used throughout a projects life cycle to ensure crisp and appropriate decision making.
The module firstly identifies typical models of projects, their organisational structure and the role of stakeholders. Progressing to a project brief, and how the project is defined in terms of key resources and how these are tested undertaking a feasibility analysis. Later, subsequent control systems that will lead to the projects successful termination and handover to the sponsor.

Wherever possible, computer based analysis will form part of the toolkit used during the various stages of project analysis.

Module Additional Assessment Details
Details: One 2500 word evaluation in report format together with an appendices of results, relating to a project plan and project risk analysis developed from the sponsors brief. This will assess all Learning Outcomes
