This module will look at the essentials of effective communication in all its forms relevant to an Operational Manager. Areas to be covered will include:
- communication process
- communications media
- non-verbal communications
- presenting information in oral or written form
- academic writing and referencing
- efficient and effective handling of information
- the use of information in decision making, including the gathering of valid information and the analysis of such information

This module requires candidates to commit to 150 learning hours (including assessment) of which 45 hours will be direct supported learning (including lectures, tutorials, workshops, case studies, in-class group discussions, videos, workbooks and computer-based learning) it will also include:
- Guidance and tutorial support to students working in small group scenarios.
- An experiential approach will be adopted as far as possible.
- Case study and syndicate tasks as far as possible to support the key learning objectives.
During your independent study you will be expected to analyses company specific data, research academic literature and compete electronic information gathering in order to widen your subject knowledge to satisfactorily complete your learning log, work-based projects and project briefing.
