Module Learning Strategies
This module has 24 hours contact time; one hour will be used for theory, and the other for applying your theory to lesson preparation, the observed delivery sessions, and peer and tutor feedback sessions.

There will be a range of learning activities involved in the first hour, including mini-lectures, group and individual work and group discussions.
Module Indicative Content
This module will give you practice in three main areas:

1) Critical aspects of L2 and ELT teaching and learning methodology in practice.

2) Applying theories of second language acquisition to teaching practice.

3) Selecting and developing materials and resources for language learning.
Module Additional Assessment Details
1) THREE OBSERVED TEACHING sessions of 30, 30 and 50 minutes respectively. The first session will be delivered to peers, and the second and third sessions to a class of L2 learners of pre-intermediate to intermediate level. Weighted at 50% (LO 1,2,3)

2) A REFLECTIVE LOG showing evidence of your ability to reflect on applying your learning to practice, in observations of L2 lessons, and teaching both in class and with an individual learner; and how you may develop further professionally. Weighted at 25% (LO 1,2,3,4)

3) ASSESSED WRITING. A piece of writing of 1000 words demonstrating your awareness of a contemporary issue in ELT which interests you. This should include current theory and views on the issue, and explain how you believe it may impact on your own teaching practice and professional development. Weighting at 25% (LO 1,2,3,4)
