Module Learning Strategies
You will have 24 hours of face-to-face sessions with your teacher. In half of these sessions, you'll be exploring various theoretical aspects of teaching English as a foreign language. You should expect a range of learning activities, for example, individual work, group discussions, role-plays, pair work, mini-lectures from the tutor, etc.
The other 12 hours will take the form of tutor observation of your lessons (either with peers or students enrolled on ISC courses) with tutorial feedback. The tutor will explore the techniques involved in self-reflection, with particular reference to your performance in delivering a series of EFL classes.
Module Indicative Content
This module will give you practice in two main areas:
1) ELT teaching and learning methodology in practice.
2) Planning and delivering L2 lessons, with clearly focussed aims.
You will be reading and talking about L2 teaching methods and approaches. You will also be preparing lesson plans with a view to applying these ideas and techniques. Finally, you will be putting the theory into practice when you deliver a number of teaching sessions, either to an individual student or group of students.
