With reference to at least two learning theories and incorporating contemporary thinking in the area, develop a 1500 word reflective log which demonstrates an understanding of the reflective process following engagement in CPD. The assignment should show evidence of an ability to understand complex situations by critically evaluating theory and practice and suggesting improvements for own development. In addition include a 1000 word critical self-assessment of CPD needs relating to enhancing learning and development, (learning outcomes 1, 2, 3 & 4) (100%).

Module Indicative Content
The module will provide an opportunity to consider key theoretical perspectives of learning and develop an understanding of their application in practice. In addition it will encourage participants to develop an understanding of key critques of current and traditional learning theories. It aims to provide a chance to develop self-awareness, reflect upon factors influencing learning and investigate mechanisms to develop own skills and knowledge. In addition a review of the impact of personal and professional changes on learning will be undertaken. The following key topics will be covered:
1. Reflective practice
2. Planning for personal change
3. Self-awareness
4. Understanding learning
Module Learning Strategies
Participants will attend 15 hours of face-to-face sessions, delivered either via 2 x full day and 1 x half day sessions or 6x2 hour and 1 x 3 hour sessions, to include an assignment workshop. The sessions will include a variety of learning and teaching strategies, and there will be a particular emphasis on reflection. In addition there will be a significant requirement for independent study through which participants will be expected to consolidate and build up learning from taught sessions and reflect upon engagement in continuous professional development.


Reading and reflection will be encourged to enable participants to discuss contemporary aspects of personal development and to appreciate the contested nature of the theories, models and concepts.
