University library for a range of relevant texts, journals and germane resources including internet access to relevant websites.
Module Texts
Participants will be expected to engage with wide independent reading when developing their electronic portfolio and this should be used within all submitted work to underpin points of view and establish strong linkage between theory and practice.

Current thinking, drawn from wide independent reading, should be embedded within the summative assessment submission and should inform all critical and reflective practice related to the study of the module.

Module Learning Strategies
The module will include a range of teaching and learning strategies such as lectures, seminars, workshops, on-line discussion forums, focus groups and student centred activities along with blended and distance learning strategies. Sessions will be led largely by internal experts from across the institution.
Module Additional Assessment Details
Option 1
Participants are required to develop and submit an electronic portfolio of evidence which includes a collection of mandatory items as detailed in the participant handbook and as explained during module sessions.

Option 2
Participants are required to produce a booklet for staff in their School, Faculty or Team outlining the background and providing well researched and theoretically underpinned advice for colleagues relating to a contemporary issue or agenda. (Maximum 5000 words)

Module Special Admissions Requirements
First degree or equivalent from a UK or overseas institution. Over 3 years full time teaching experience in a higher or professional education context and must hold (or be working towards) Fellowship of the HEA.
Module Indicative Content
The module will provide participants with opportunities to gain knowledge, understanding and experience of new classroom practices and innovations. The module will include the following topics:

- The evolving context of teaching and learning in Higher and Professional Education
- Contemporary principles of accredited course, award and programme design in Higher and Professional Education
- Contemporary learners and evolving learning practices in the 21st century
- Effective use of technology in the contemporary context of Higher and Professional Education
- Assessment and feedback: challenges and opportunities
- Policy and practice: the guiding principles of contemporary HE
- Assessment workshop.
