Module Learning Strategies
The module will include a range of teaching and learning strategies such as lectures, discussions, group-work and student-centred activities. Sessions will be led largely by internal experts engaged in the management learning process.

Participants will be required to critically engage with the required reading which underpins all the topics from the module. In addition, it is expected that participants will also independently engage with the wider literature which relates to these topics in order to make the link between theory and practice within their own working context. Module Special Admissions Requirements
All participants must be current practitioners within the Higher or Professional Education context, with some academic leadership responsibilities, and with access to a minimum of 10 hours management development workshops upon which to reflect as part of their ongoing learning as academic manager.
Module Indicative Content
This module will provide participants with the opportunity to gain an understanding of relevant theory pertaining to management learning and reflective practice in order for them to apply it to their own development as a manager. The module will include the following topics:
- Management education, development and learning
- Learning within a professional context
- Academics as managers
- Sensemaking and the learning process of managers
- Reflective practice in action
Module Additional Assessment Details
Participants will be required to develop and submit a portfolio of evidence which includes a collection of mandatory items as detailed in the participant handbook.
